Spouse Bonus Points (Consumer Law & Fraud)

Tue, 05 Oct 2004 10:47:00 GMT

My wife currently fulfills 115 points (she drops 5 because she is 31), which
is 5 short of the 120. Now in theory we could get an extra 5 points IF I
have the relevant assessment.

My history is as follows:
1) I've worked in the IT industry for the past 6 years , and in my current
job for 3 years and 9 months of that.
2) I don't have any formal qualifications, however, I'm currently
undertaking a degree in Computing which I'm 3/5th of the way through. I do
however have enough module points for a Certificate of Higher Education.

Would the ACS take into account modules I have undertaken, along with my
work experience (ASP / HTML / Visual Basic / Network Design)? Is it likely I
would get approved?

Without formal qualifications in IT your only route to an ACS
assessment is through Recognised Prior Learning (RPL). You'll probably
have an issue with the work experience required, RPL needs 8 years
professional IT experience (unless you have some formal qualifications
in any discipline equal to an Aus diploma, when it drops to 6 years) and
you don't appear to have that.

Is there any other way you can get the 5 points, eg capital investment?

    Jeremy

    Hey Sten.

I don't know enough about ACS, I'm an IT guy too, but went through
IEAust. Have a look there, maybe they will acknowledge you. I know they
have different criteria than ACS, for better and for worse.

    Good luck
