What is the name of your state? west virginia
I have several bad check warrants from 1999 and early 2000. They are misdemeanors How long can they keep these? i hear 7 years and it has been longer than that. I currently attend school in NY and am still a wv resident. If i was pulled over would they take me back to WV for those? I really need to know. I could pay the checks but the magistrate court wants like 1200 bucks in warrant fees etc. and i cant afford that. I was young and stupid when i did it and didnt realize the consequences. So i guess basically will these just drop ever?

Great......well is there anyway i could get them to drop the outrageous fees? the biggest ck was a little over 60 bucks and a few of them were like 5 dollars. Like i said i have no problem paying them but i cant afford the fees. Could I challenge them in court? I know several of the business are no longer in business and are unlikely to show up and in that case dont i win by default?

oh and not to mention I am in school for teaching and I have to have a background check for licensure and I am sure that this crap is going to show up and I wont be able to get licensed..

Sounds to me like you might have to take out a loan to pay this off.
Have you talked to the courts at all about reducing the fees?
(Even if you pay it off, it will still show up on the same background checks...)

So as to my question if the business that I wrote the check to doesnt show will i get a default judgement because they didnt show then would it be off my record? I was told that if i was never arrested then that stuff wouldnt show up.

They don't have to show, these charges will not drop.
