What charges are possible if a university camera caught someone exchanging 1 prescribed Xanax pill to someone in return for cash who was unprescribed?

  • anyone that confronts you about the footage, first of all with the fact that you were caught on a security camera, who ever sees it would never guess it was a perscription pill exchange and the obvious reality that it was one pill, and from now on, if anyone asks about it, you gave someone who owed you some cash an advil for their headache. Universities have their own tolerance on controlled substances but as long as you're not drug trafficing up and down the halls its not going to be an issue.

  • The applicable charge would be delivery of Penalty Group 3 controlled substance less than 1 gram which is a state jail felony. Since this is a college university it would be a drug free zone which could enhance it to a third degree felony punishable by 2 to 10 years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine or up to 10 years probation.
    I will tell you that most DA's offices will not accept a possession or delivery charge unless at least some amount of the substance is recovered for testing, with the exception of marihuana.
