I discovered I had LUPUS and was ill and out of work from July 2003 to March 2004. I was on short term disabililty it expired in March 2004 and I was not ready to return to work yet...My employer made it clear that if I didn't return back to work by the end of March I would be out of a job....I talked with my docter and we both agree that I go back to work at ligth duty for 30 days and see how it works out...They denied me coming back with ligth duty restrictions.. it was all or nothing....And before I can get a hold of my Docter with this reponse...I was thinking about just coming back just to save my job ..I didn't want to lose it.....They terminated me a day later....they didn't accomodate me at all ...I think they were wrong in wanting an "ALL OR NOTHING " ...I've worked for this company for five years and had good work reviews and attendance...This was in Bristol, PA. THANKS.....

THe denial to let you go on light duty may be discriminatory on the basis of your lupus. It is illegal under the Americans With Disabilities Act. You can read more about ADA at www.eeoc.gov (http://www.eeoc.gov).

If you go to this website, http://www.afscme.org/otherlnk/weblnk25.htm, you will find a wealth of information regarding the rights of employees with a disability.

Good luck.
