K-3's: how long did it take you to receipt? (Immigration Law)

Wed, 12 Nov 2003 16:05:00 GMT

It took Ken and I *almost two months* (!!!) receipted on November 9th,
2003. Our atty. told us based on current process times, we should be
approved aprox. END OF FEBRUARY and 10 days later the approval notice
into the atty. office.

I was under the impression K3 took 3 months to process versus a K-1 and
that is why we went that route. At this rate, the total process time
from submission to interview will be 6-7 MONTHS.

This is NOT right BCIS.

  • Maryanne,

The USCIS doesn't process visa applications.

Visa applications are processed by the consulates overseas.

suddenly increaed from 60-90 days to an "average" of 100 days (with

several cases going all the way to 120 days.)

  • Maryanne,

    "receipted"?

My NOA #1 has a Notice Date of 2 days after I mailed the petition -
dropped it off at the Post Office on 1 October, Received Date is 2
October and the Notice Date is 3 October.

More than who told your attorney that your file was to go to Texas, I
wonder why he didn't know himself that it was to go to Missouri?

The 'fault' for almost 2 months between mailing and NOA may very well
not lie with the USCIS in this case.

The first 3 letters on our receipt number are MSC (I am assuming that is
Missouri Service Center----wonder why my atty was told our file was to
    go to Texas??)

Well that sounds like the answer to your question, and the answer to the
scenario that I posed in my earlier response.............Your attorney
was misinformed, as it clearly states on the form, the address is
Chicago, thereby MSC for a K3 129F, not rocket science on this gaff...

Can't help but wonder if it didn't go to the wrong place initally, like
the regular service center instead of MSC. Sadly that HAS happened
before and that was even in cases of having an attorney do the
paperwork. I would be a bit more optimisitic than the end of February-
    check the current rollcall times.

    --------

It took my husband and I an extra 2 months because our 129fK3 paper
work was sent to the wrong department PO Box 7216 of BCIS insteat of
7218 . Then they sent everything back to him. Talk about
frustrating...so there is no justice in this whole event I think. I
think they should have forwarded it to the right PO Box but that would
be too much to ask so more wasted time.

  • I checked MSC service times with our receipt number---it came back "60
to 90 days to process this kind of case".....I am convinced that attys.
are NOT getting the most up to date info from BCIS!!! (no it's not the
    atty's fault.)

Attys. on this board: how do you know what your are getting from BCIS is
correct info, do you check with AILA's site, or fellow immigration
    attys?

The first 3 letters on our receipt number are MSC (I am assuming that is

I agree with an earlier post----we really DO appreciate the attys tha
post here----if you have to hug an atty, make it an IMMIGRATION one! lol
