Reminds me of the old " are you or have you ever been......" line of
questioning.

In any event, as so many of us have found, it is hard enough to be an
"upright, law abiding citizen" and go through this whole process never
mind someone with a decidedly shady past. Today's immigration climate
does not take kindly to anyone with political views that stray from
what is generally acceptable by the powers that be.
