Protecting my content on my website (Intellectual Property)

Mon, 08 May 2006 16:21:00 GMT

I know Sony has done some rather interesting things with Digital Rights Management based programs such as XCP and Suncomm MediaMax. I was wondering if it is legal if I put a little program on my website that gets their IP address, user name / OS information, and tracks mouse clicks and keystrokes for the purpose of checking if they are saving / right-clicking images off my website? From everything of the DCMA I have read, it appears 100% legal, but I just wanted to double check with people who may know more about this.

Thanks.

You are describing information that is often collected by standard analytics packages. What do you mean, though, by their "user name"? Is that a user name associated with your website?

No, like Windows account user name. This would make it easier to track the people who do right click images and find out who they are without having to go through talkin with their ISPs.
