Year Lease Maryland (Real Estate & Property Law)

Tue, 01 Aug 2006 12:34:00 GMT

My family and I had rented a home with a 1 year lease and all was well into the beginning of the lease. Around the 7th month we had been living there the landlord started becoming obnoxious, stopping by peeking in the windows, coming over in the late hours sitting in front of the house reeving his motor until it woke us up, calling a letting the phone ring until we had to turn the ringer off. All of these things would be because he didn't like that something was in the yard or the trash cans weren't in the garage or a ladder was not put in the garage, etc. It proceeded to get worse to where he was calling me a work to tell me about these things, so we decided that we just could not take any more and gave him notice that we would be moving on (Oct 1 Gave notice, moving on Nov. 1) The landlord proceeded to file Possesion of Property with the courts. We went to court for this and the judge told the landlord they were already aware we were vacating the premises and to not come back on the premises until we were out on Nov 1. We have been back and forth to court every month since then for everything imaginable, and I don't know what else to do to stop this nonsense. It seems like even the courts would get tired of seeing us. They have taking us to court and said that we broke a water pipe under the house. We were not found liable for this, and not found responsible for the water or plumbing bills. Most all of the court cases they have not won, some have been split between us, but its the mental and physical strain that is the problem. Any suggestions, everyone is telling us to get a lawyer but I just don't have the money to put out after everything I have paid out so far for this person, including time off for all the court hearings.
